2021 Nissan Rogue vs 2021 Toyota Rav4

2021 Nissan Rogue vs 2021 Toyota Rav4

There are few vehicle segments that are more popular and more densely packed than the compact SUV class. Two of the most popular compact SUVs are the 2021 Nissan Rogue and the 2021 Toyota RAV4. These two vehicles are incredibly similar, offering a variety of modern configurations, a good entry-level price, and tons of standard features.

Rogue vs RAV4 - Design

Nissan's best-selling vehicle was redesigned from the ground up for 2021. Its new appearance is more powerful thanks to a boxier style and wider stance. The interior was also updated as well to include a bi-level dashboard, increased passenger value, and additional hidden storage cubbies. High-quality materials fill the cabin, providing a look of luxury and modernity.

The Toyota RAV4 was last redesigned in 2019, and its conventional good looks still look good in 2021. The interior is filled with durable materials, but plastic rules the roost on the lower-level models, losing points to the Rogue's more modern-day look.

Rogue vs RAV4 - Performance

Nissan also upgraded the Rogue's engine during the 2021 redesign, bumping up the horsepower to 181 on the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine. It offers confident handling and a quieter interior that does not let much road noise into the cabin.

Toyota powers the 2021 RAV4 with a 203-hp 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that can be noisy during acceleration, though it holds its own on twisting roads. The RAV4 is also available with a hybrid engine.

Rogue vs RAV4 - Safety

The 2021 Nissan Rogue is built with the Full Safety Shield 360 suite of safety technologies, including intelligent forward collision warning, intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, RearView monitor, rear sonar system, rear intelligent emergency braking, and more.

All 2021 RAV4 models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which includes lane tracing assist, lane departure alert with steering assist and road edge detection, auto high beam, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and bicycle detection, and dynamic radar cruise control.

Rogue vs RAV4
