Join the Force and Experience the Future for Nissan

In 2016, Nissan and Lucasfilm, LTD. joined
forces on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
and introduced the Star Wars branded 2017 Nissan Rogue to the public.
This year, Nissan and Lucasfilm, LTD. have once
again teamed up on a new movie, Star
Wars: The Last Jedi. They are offering Star Wars fans Nissan specials on a
number of vehicles like the Rogue.
The Technology of the Future is now Within Reach Nissan
Intelligent Mobility is a suite of driver-assist technologies that are a lot like the droids
in Star Wars; they are designed to
assist the pilot manoeuvre through traffic and avoid disasters.
Features like Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
with Pedestrian Detection monitor speed while keeping a safe distance from
other vehicles. The system can apply the brakes if necessary and is able
to detect pedestrians.
Other features of the Nissan Intelligent
Mobility suite include Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) with Intelligent Lane Intervention.
Sensors and radars in the BSW system are always
monitoring the surrounding traffic. The system sounds an alert should it detect
other cars within the blind spot, thus avoiding a collision.
The RCTA system helps prevent accidents when
backing up by checking surrounding traffic and sounding an alert if there is
rear cross traffic.ProPILOT
Assist is another feature of
the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of driver's tools.
When automation is needed, the ProPILOT Assist
can take over some of the daily driving tasks.
While the Nissan is not an
X-Wing Starfighter, both vehicles benefit from the advanced technology that
makes driverless piloting possible.
ProPILOT advances the capabilities of the radar,
sensors and cameras that Nissan already uses for other safety features like BWS
and 'reads' the road ahead. The LDW system is part of this advanced equipment.
If the vehicle starts to drift out of its lane,
the LDW will emit a warning sound. Should the warning be ignored, the system
can tap the brakes and begin to steer the vehicle back into its lane.
As the radar reads the road, it determines where
the lane markers are and keeps the vehicle within them.
ProPILOT is easy to engage; just tap the
ProPILOT button on the steering wheel to turn it on and off. When the ProPILOT is engaged, it turns on the
Intelligent Cruise Control, which keeps vehicle speed steady as it adjusts to
surrounding traffic speed. The system works smoothly in stop and go traffic by
keeping pace with traffic.
When under manual power, a driver can lurch forward
or slam on their brakes. This eliminates this type of driving and saves money
on fuel.
While it is not self-driving, the Steering
Assist feature helps by making gentle adjustments when driving to stay within
the lines. It can even make gentle turns, as long as the roads are well marked.
Steering Assist can take some of the stress out of driving.
